Stacey Buckner, a traumatic brain injury survivor, has transformed her personal journey of resilience into a life of service for homeless veterans. After surviving a stroke and facing a long recovery, she found new purpose working with Veterans Affairs, inspired by her father’s 30-year military service. Though not a veteran herself, Buckner feels a deep connection to veterans, especially those with traumatic brain injuries, Spectrum News 1 reports. Through Off-Road Outreach, she brings essential resources directly to veterans in need, driving a Jeep equipped with food, medical supplies, and even a portable shower. Her work has reached over 1,000 veterans in Fayetteville and earned her national recognition as a CNN Hero. Buckner hopes her story inspires others to help, believing that “living a life of service above self is what we should all be doing.”
